Magnificence in a one-page blog posting. I find wonder in these small, positively pleasant posts packing perfectly potent punches.

My prayer for you is that you may always find the sacred in what others see as insignificant and that you may never lose your sense of awe and wonder. This reminds me of Writer's Almanac today. It is William Blake's 250th birthday, and they had two wonderful quotes from him which are quite appropriate to your post:

"To see a world in a grain of sand, / And a heaven in a wild flower, / Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, / And eternity in an hour."

"Imagination is the real and eternal world of which this vegetable universe is but a faint shadow."

Happy Birthday, Mr. Blake!

June, thank you for the poem! That's exactly what I'm talking about. And Beth, I wish everyone were drunk on glory. But so many people are drunk on their own egos and greed. The people that aren't make the world a much better place.

I really, really love this poem, Ariel. (Yours too, June!) You are so fortunate to have the gift of seeing beauty in the commonplace and the capacity to become "drunk on glory." And we are fortunate that you shared your experience with us in this lovely poem! Thank you.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Your found pennies were indeed lucky ones as they obviously trained your eye to look at small things and places. for little "gems". Indeed, there's value in all things no matter how insignificant they may seem or how often we look past them. I wrote the poem below years ago, but thought it appropriate to share it here:

when I’m walking
and noticing the small things
I often think of you
and how I know
if you were here with me
you’d see them too,
knowing all the while
they weren’t really small at all.
